De onderstaande solidariteitsboodschap (in het Engels aangezien ons Duits niet zo schitterend is) met de stakers van het Berlijnse Charité ziekenhuis werd deze namiddag per e-mail doorgestuurd. De boodschap werd ondertekend door delegees, hoofddelegees en vakbondssecretarissen van BBTK-SETCa die in de ziekenhuissector actief zijn in Gent, Lede, Halle, Grimbergen, Brussel en Charleroi.Binnen het uur (!) kreeg ik antwoord op de solidariteitsmail: "This is great, thanks very much. Tomorrow there will be a demo by the striking workers and we will pass on your message then. Will keep you up-to-date." Internationale solidariteit geeft altijd een extra steuntje in de rug om het moreel van de stakers hoog te houden!

We send our warmest solidarity to the strikers of the Charité Hospital in Berlin!In Belgium we have to deal with the same difficulties in the health sector: lack of everything... low wages, shortage of staff, unwilling management, cuts, looming privatisation... The national deal in our sector that was negotiated with the federal government in 2005 has been met with a lot of resistance of the employers’ federations. This national deal was the result of industrial action over the period of more than one year which ended in an all-out strike of the federal health sector for 2 weeks. For each part of the deal that was agreed to with the government a bitter fight with the employers’ federations has been and still is necessary. In Belgium we still have a long way to go until our demands are met.
Victory for the Charité-workers!
